So far, the best treatment to treat compulsive perfectionism has been "exposure with response prevention." The treatment consists of blocking or delaying the compulsion, while in parallel other types of strategies are developed to tolerate and reduce the anxiety that this generates.

Once the treatment is started, the anxiety will go down through a process of habituation and, in addition, the obsession will lose credibility when observing that what we fear so much finally does not happen.
